The date for the club workday and membership meeting has been changed from Saturday, March 13 to Saturday, March 20.  Please come if you can and please remember to bring with you, if you have one, a light duty cordless rechargeable screwdriver.  We will gather at the American Aviation hangar at the Wilkes County Airport at 8:00 a.m. to begin the process of readying the club's airplane for its annual inspection.  Aircraft Safety Officer, Bud Crouse, will supervise and coordinate our work.  After preparing the airplane for inspection, we will have the regular quarterly membership meeting.

The Flying Musicians Association, in conjunction with the Wilkes Flying Club and Wilkes County Airport are holding a Fly-In MusicJam at the Wilkes County Airport during MerleFest. There will be onsite camping, jamming, refreshments and shuttles to and from MerleFest venues. RSVP required to reserve a tie down or camp spot.

Western North Carolina's Newest Flying Club! E-mail

Wilkes Flying Club, Inc, located at the Wilkes County Airport in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was formed in 2007 as a North Carolina not-for-profit corporation.  The Club’s mission is to educate and foster interest in general aviation and flight safety. Periodic ground schools and flight safety seminars are offered by our club through Wilkes Community College. Flight training in our club’s IFR equipped Cessna 172 is available to club members at affordable rates.  Several highly experienced FAA certified flight instructors are members of the Club.

Persons interested in joining our Club are encouraged to complete and submit an application. Simply click the word “application” in the column to the left, to download and print your application.

"In the Fall semester of 2008, Wilkes Flying Club, Inc. offered a VFR Ground School course at Wilkes Community College.  Because of the success of that course, future Ground School courses will be offered as part of our club's primary educational mission."
